Garden Visit: Botanic Garden of Wales

27 February 2012

Looking for a holiday destination with a nice property and places of interest nearby this gardener had the boxes well ticked back in 2010! We have visited Wales a few times but this time my garden visiting eyes were on the relatively new National Botanic Garden of Wales. Nice property found, we could be just… Read More Garden Visit: Botanic Garden of Wales

Garden Visits (Video): Biddulph Grange

22 December 2011

Biddulph Grange Garden was the pick for last weekend’s virtual garden visit. Sorry I’m late with this but I am guessing blogging time for everyone is running short just now. If you are looking for some time out then perhaps pouring yourself a cuppa and taking a virtual stroll round this garden in Staffordshire, England… Read More Garden Visits (Video): Biddulph Grange

Garden Visits (Video): Benmore Botanical Garden

11 December 2011

Benmore Botanical Garden is the pick for this weekend’s virtual garden visit. It can be found in a magnificent mountainside setting on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. For those not familiar with Scotland’s landscape that’s on the west side of the country. Benmore is steeped in history and surrounded by dramatic scenery. As a garden… Read More Garden Visits (Video): Benmore Botanical Garden

Garden Visits (Video): Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

4 December 2011

Link collecting for Edinburgh Botanical Gardens whilst sorting/editing photos from a visit this past week picked up the video below. I’ve collected footage in the past but this one (at 6 mins 15 secs) covers all areas. I liked it and thought it would be a good one to share. For those considering a garden… Read More Garden Visits (Video): Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

GARDENWATCH

I’d encourage everyone to gardenwatch, now more than ever. You just never know what you might see when you look more closely. I’d guess you’d be in for quite a few surprises, just as I have. A good start is a dish of fresh water for thirsty hedgehogs and birds and any kind of bird feeder. A warning here – one will lead to another. Our gardens really can be mini nature reserves which is great for us to enjoy and seriously helps struggling wildlife.

There are three favourite locations to gardenwatch in my garden, all at different times of the day. Breakfast, through a window with a notebook recording activity at the feeders. Lunchtime, on a bench by the pond watching what is attracted there – lots. Late evening is the last, live watching night garden activity through four IR cameras – addictive!
